It all started in 2001 when Glenn Unzicker was traveling with his family. He'd always had a big, white beard, but couldn't understand why the lady in the hotel they were staying at asked him if he wanted to play Santa Claus for the hotel during his stay.

Unzicker declined her request. "I was a little offended at first", Unzicker admitted. "But then I thought, 'why not?' Maybe I could bring a little joy to a child. And really Christmas is for more than children. And to bring a smile to someone's face makes me feel pretty good."

Three years later, Glenn Unzicker became a graduate of Charles W. Howard Santa Claus School in Midland, Michigan and is now officially a Santa By Request.

Glenn Unzicker has played the part since 2001. Unzicker became a vendor for MissoulaMac Corp (McDonald's) and was on HGTV program called "Crazy for Christmas" in 2003.

He did a commercial for Wisconsin Cheeseman (aired locally on FOX TV network out of Madison), and Sun Prairie's newspaper "The Star" published a three quarter page article on Unzicker's playing Santa.
